Brian H. Dunn
Mr. Dunn is the managing partner of the Kansas City office. He began his legal career in 1982 and shortly thereafter developed an expertise in ERISA. He has been a key note speaker at various Employee Benefits and ERISA conferences. As the chair of the firm's ERISA/Employee Benefits Group, he represents multiemployer groups and single employers with health & welfare, pension, §401(k) and non-qualified plans. He also chairs the firm's Employment Law Group which advises clients on personnel handbooks as well as general employment rights issues.
Ronald L. Holt
Mr. Holt brings 26 years of experience in a broad range of commercial and general litigation matters in various industries in the Kansas City metropolitan area and throughout the nation, including 15 years of experience in representing institutions of higher learning in litigation, regulatory matters and business transactions. Holt served a two-year clerkship with the late United States District Judge Russell G. Clark before entering private practice. He has served as lead counsel on commercial, banking, antitrust, securities, environmental, employment, insurance and higher education litigation matters, including complex commercial cases, and he has successfully prosecuted and defended substantial claims in such matters. Active in representing for-profit postsecondary institutions around the nation, Mr. Holt is a member of the Career College Association headquartered in Washington, D.C., where he serves on its Legislative Advisory Council and chairs its Litigation Committee.
Thomas G. Stoll
Mr. Stoll has an extensive commercial law practice with an emphasis on banking and debtor/creditor law. He represents a number of banks and other financial institutions in the Kansas City metropolitan area and throughout Missouri and Kansas. He advises banking clients on all aspects of banking law including regulatory issues, loan documentation, loan enforcement and bankruptcy matters. Mr. Stoll also has an active probate and corporate practice and has been a frequent speaker at educational seminars covering a variety of topics. Mr. Stoll is a partner with the Kansas City office.
Dennis J. Cassidy
Since graduating from law school in 1997, Dennis Cassidy has focused his practice in the areas of personal injury, commercial litigation, and insurance coverage matters. He began his legal career working in Kansas City as an associate attorney with one of the largest defense firms in Missouri, being promoted to partner in 2004. Sparked by a desire to help injured parties pursue their claims for compensation, he joined a smaller law firm in Overland Park in 2007.
Julie J. Gibson
Ms. Gibson has over 19 years of experience in the areas of civil commercial litigation, insurance coverage, appellate practice, construction, administrative actions, class action litigation, employment discrimination, and personal injury claims. Her practice includes representing both defendants and plaintiffs in a wide variety of commercial disputes, both in court and in the administrative setting, and assisting clients with resolution of their unique legal issues in a cost-efficient and effective manner.
David Harpool
Dr. David Harpool is renowned in the field of higher education, especially in the area of distance and extended learning models. He has over 22 years experience in public and private school settings having served as an officer, and on the Board of Trustees of several colleges and educational institutions. His practice centers on accreditation, operations, regulatory, compliance and employment issues faced by colleges, universities and related businesses. He has counseled higher education institutions of all sizes and types on issues with the U.S. Department of Education, various state higher education coordinating boards and regional, national and programmatic accrediting agencies. He has served as peer evaluator and accreditation team member for multiple accrediting agencies. Additionally, he frequently provides related legal commentary on NBC television, CNN and CBS radio.
Megan R. Banks
Ms. Banks concentrates on transactional work, including general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, higher education transactions and regulatory consultation, banking transactions, and employee benefits and ERISA matters. Prior to joining Dunn & Davison, LLC, Ms. Banks clerked for the Honorable Duane Benton, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and was an associate at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, Illinois.
Adam M. Crane
Adam is an entrepreneurial attorney with experience in handling all aspects of a commercial transaction from the initial client development stage through complex negotiations to the successful closing of the deal. He brings over 20 years of spirit, passion and dedication in bringing parties together, navigating and explaining the nuances of each deal to his clients. Having represented numerous individuals and companies, his practical approach provides valuable insight and guidance to all parties involved in a transaction. Adam is licensed in the State of Kansas and has litigated at local, state and federal levels.
Matthew L. Hoppock
Matthew Hoppock is an Associate with the Kansas City office. His practice focuses on immigration-related litigation, representing immigrants in removal proceedings, and immigration-related appeals. In addition to representing immigrants and their families, Matthew has worked with several Kansas City area non-profit organizations to try to bring affordable legal services to underserved communities.
Mitchell E. Kempker
Mr. Kempker concentrates in transactional work, including general corporate, banking transactions, real estate matters and higher education transaction and regulatory consultation. His banking practice includes serving as lender’s counsel for loan documentation and workout negotiations. Mr. Kempker has also represented buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants in various real estate matters, including acquisitions, ground leases and commercial leases. Prior to joining Dunn & Davison, LLC, Mr. Kempker was an associate at Armstrong Teasdale LLP in St. Louis, Missouri.
Brad K. Thoenen
Mr. Thoenen concentrates in litigation, including business, tort litigation, and appellate practice. His practice encompasses a wide range of cases, from representing employers in various aspects of employment law to representing businesses in disputes that arise. He has been involved in various aspects of litigation, including written and oral motion practice and complex discovery disputes. Prior to joining Dunn & Davison, LLC, Mr. Thoenen was an associate at Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP in St. Louis, Missouri.
Bridget M. Thoenen
Ms. Thoenen concentrates in employee benefits law, including matters affecting pension, 401(k), and health and welfare plans. She has experience representing a wide range of clients, including multiemployer “Taft-Hartley” funds. She regularly advises clients regarding plan design, implementation, and administration of qualified retirement plans and health and welfare programs, and assists clients with compliance with ERISA and other employee benefits laws. Ms. Thoenen’s practice also focuses on labor and employment law, appellate practice, and litigation. Prior to joining Dunn & Davison, LLC, Ms. Thoenen clerked for the Honorable Thomas M. Welch, State of Illinois Appellate Court, Fifth District.
